September was an attention-getting month--Helene and Milton demanded our attention. Relax later in October at Movie Night at the Outpost, hosted by Alison Knapp & Fran Walker. Tuesday, October 29 at 7 pm for an after dinner movie, popcorn provided, BYOB. Thank you, Fran & Alison.

Winter prep for your Chinquapin homes is coming up, if not already. Tony Nicolli wrote an article a couple years ago for owners to refer to and properly prep their homes. It includes, but is not limited to, turning off water, water leak detection devices, thermostat settings, generators and more. The article is under the Owner Resources tab, Useful Articles. https://www.chinquapinowners.com/_files/ugd/92a952_d14bfcd471e04041b839a6c1765720a1.pdf
There's also an article about how to cut off water to the house under Useful Articles. https://www.chinquapinowners.com/_files/ugd/92a952_d4f7aafdb3d443d0aba33ffaa35bfcc2.pdf
The Trail Report & the Cellphone Report, given at the September Annual meeting, are the blog article posting this month. The Trail Report is also on the Maps & Trails tab; the Cellphone Report is on the Surveys & Reports section of Owner Resources.
HOA UNOFFICIAL Annual Meeting Record 9.13.2024 is under Owner Resources, Surveys & Reports. It is based on handwritten notes.
As announced at the September Annual meeting & in the Chinquapin Updates email from the Waterfront office, Ashley Roberts is leaving to move closer to her family. Renee Owen is hired to step into that position.
Important contact information was useful during Helene's aftermath. You can always find it on the Owner Resources, Owner Contacts & Directory tab. Storing those names & numbers in our phones and creating a hard copy of them keeps this information handy. Please sign up for the Duke Energy alert program; you'll be notified about planned and unplanned outages. BalsamWest contact information is on that page; so is contact info and phone numbers for the Waterfront employees. There is an After Hours Phone Number, too. https://www.chinquapinowners.com/directory-1
Duke Energy always wants everyone to notify it of outages. Even if you know others in the neighborhood have reported it ---there's a place on its website to do so & a phone number to text (see Important Contact Information under Owner Resources, Contacts & Directory)--Duke gets a more complete picture of the outage if everyone reports it.
The bears have been quite visible this fall as they eat, eat, eat to get ready for the cold season. Be sure they eat what they should eat---put birdfeeders away, keep trash secure, clean food trash out of vehicles and lock them. Per the Bearwise program Chinquapin participated in last fall, bears are safer when they don't alter their natural behaviors and become accustomed to people. Provide clear information for people who rent your homes. For great bear info & free handouts, visit the Bearwise website. https://bearwise.org/
