Cashiers and Glenville don’t have local police departments. They are covered by the sheriff department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Sheriff Doug Farmer leads the Sheriff Department in Jackson County. There are no local, town police departments in Cashiers or Glenville. Sylva has a police department.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol also patrols in southern Jackson County and other areas. The 911 dispatchers send its calls to the sheriff deputies or the highway patrol, depending on the closest law enforcement unit.
In North Carolina, motorists traveling throughout the state who need assistance (not emergency assistance) may dial *47 which is *HP on a cellular phone.
Jackson County falls in the SHP Troop G, District V area. That office is located in Clyde, NC.
Blue Ridge Public Safety, whose office is on Highway 64, east of the crossroads (intersection of highways 64 & 107), is not a law enforcement entity, but is a public safety organization which contracts with individuals or neighborhood HOA/POAs to provide mobile monitoring services. Its officers can deal with issues—trespassing, damages, and other incidents—on the properties it’s contracted to cover. Based on recent information from BRPS, one police officer is on its staff and BRPS doesn’t cover incidents on highways 64 and 107, leaving that to the sheriff deputies or the State Highway Patrol. Another Source for House Watching Services—On the private Facebook group Cashiers Community Together, individuals post questions looking for someone to watch their property. Folks who provide that service comment on the question, giving names and contact information. This may be another source for individuals to find a person to watch their properties.
